Sanuk just does it right...A long time favorite of surfers across the globe, they made a huge statement when they launched their R.A.S.T.A line with the help of pro surfer Dave Rastovich. This new line is their sustainable approach to all your favorite sanuk sandals and sidewalk surfers.
Do you know what the word Sanuk means? Sanuk comes from the Thai word that means fun. Each and every design that they crank out achieves that title. The company was founded by Southern California native Jeff Kelley who began by creating sandals out of outdoor-indoor carpet. He since has inspired a line of shoes to be not only creative, but also comfortable and functional. Sanuk has won multiple awards, such as the SIMA Image Awards for the product of the year in 2007 and 2010.
Sanuk’s most popular shoe is the Sidewalk Surfer. By combining the best characteristics of both shoes and sandals, they have created a “Not-A-Shoe”, which is cozy like a shoe, while allowing the sole to bend and mold to the ground, just like mother earth intended. We offer the Hemp Sidewalk Surfers for both men and women, and offer an array of color choices. The hemp models are vegan and feature a super soft, high rebound, molded EVA footbed. Along with being surprisingly ventilated, they also have an AEGIS Antimicrobial additive so your “not-a-shoes” will stay fresh longer.
Along with the wonderful hemp model Sidewalk Surfers, we also offer the Rasta Good On Ya and Rasta Jillaroo for the ladies, and the Rasta Wombat for men. Sanuk started the R.A.S.T.A Project which stands for Recycled and Sustainable Trade Alliance. The project aims to reduce the impact on the environment, while maintaining a functional, exciting product line that is environmentally friendly in every way possible. These products are manufactured using only recycled materials. The shoes’ outsoles are made from recycled tires which come from no greater than 100km away from the factory, where they start their new life under your feet. The R.A.S.T.A. Project also uses hemp, jute, natural latex, cork, and recycled plastic bottles. The final product is delivered in a biodegradable corn bag that naturally breaks down. Finally, a shoe you can wear proudly.
As for sandals, we carry the Rasta Sprout for the men, and the Rasta Mystic and Rasta Nectar for women. These flip flops are all part of the R.A.S.T.A. Project, so you can rest assured knowing that these were produced responsibly. The Sprout is wrapped in sustainable hemp, with a natural latex foam footbed. The super soft recycled PET (water bottle) liner and toe post are complimented with the recycled tire outsole, resulting in the most sustainable flip flops in town. The ladies have two stylish options to choose from. The Rasta Mystic is constructed with an ultra-soft, high rebound fashion EVA/hemp footbed, as well as a handmade organic rope upper. The Mystic is completed with a sustainable rubber/cork outsole. The other great option for ladies looking for sandals is the Rasta Nectar, which features a hemp t-strap with coconut buttons and a wooden buckle. The handmade flax/jute upper and the soft, recycled PET liner sit atop the 48% recycled rubber outsole. Whether it is shoes by Sanuk or mens wetsuits, Envirosurfer has you covered! Smile, pass it on!
